PRE-TAN Q&A

Do you have staffed hours?

We are staffed 6 days, 9am-5pm and sometimes even 7 days! Stay up to date on our socials for current information as our afterhours vary each week.

How do I prep my skin?

To prepare for your bronzing experience, you should exfoliate all areas then cleanse with a gentle cleanser. Ending your shower with a cool rinse helps to close pores and then remember not to moisturise as this will create a barrier to your spray tan. Some people ask if they should use tan eraser, but as this does not remove dead skin cells, in order to best prepare your skin for your next spray tan, we recommend exfoliating.

Should I shave before my spray tan?

Shaving is best done 6-24 hours prior to your appointment to allow the pores to settle and reduce the chance of “black dots” forming.

What do I need to bring?

Just yourself! At The Society & Co we provide all you need for a flawless tan, our private room offers barrier cream, hairnets, G-strings, sticky feet and wipes. We try to be as environmentally conscious as possible and whilst some items need to be disposable for hygiene purposes (e.g. hairnets), we choose not provide other non-essential disposables. If there are other items you feel you require, please don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss.

What should I do right before my tan?

Apply a generous layer of our barrier cream to your ankles and feet, knees, elbows and all over hands, including fingernails. Wear a hair net but remember to position it just above your hairline all around your head. Our spray tan booth also has an instructional guide to help you through the whole process.

Are your tans safe for people who are pregnant, breastfeeding or have sensitive skin?

Our products are Australian made and free from SLS, parabens and gluten. They are also vegan, cruelty free, non-comedogenic (non-pore clogging) and the active ingredients are eco-certified and natural. This means they are very gentle on the skin and suitable for most skin types, however if you have any concerns whatsoever, we recommend you discuss with your dermatologist or medical professional.

When should I get my tan?

We recommend 2 days prior for the best result but the day before will also be fine. This allows sufficient time for the cosmetic bronzer to leave the skin and not leave marks on your garnets. We recommend booking a trial tan for important events such as weddings at least 2 weeks before to ensure you’re happy with the colour.

The spray tan itself only takes around 4 minutes, this includes full coverage and drying. We do ask that you keep your time in the room to a maximum of 20 minutes to allow time for everyone to enjoy the society experience!

What do I do if I dont want to tan my face?

Place one of our disposable hairnets over your face. This does seem strange however they are see through and breathable whilst preventing product from being applied to your facial area.

What should I wear during and after my tan?

For your spray tan you should remove all jewellery and we recommend you do not wear any underwear to allow for a full and flawless tan. Each booth session includes full body drying so you can then get fully dressed straight away with no wet feeling or sticky reside. We recommend our clients to bring a loose-fitting dark fabric linen or cotton dress or kaftan to slip on after their tan. Avoid satin, silk, leather, or lycra as these fabrics draw moisture of the body resulting in leaving marks over the body.
